This IS for:

  • ✅ Your active characters you're playing right now
  • ✅ Progress tracking (current act, current goals, next steps)
  • ✅ Gear progression logs
  • ✅ Personal notes, learnings, achievements
  • ✅ Budget tracking, currency goals
  • ✅ "Where am I and what am I doing next?"

  • Currency goals and progress
  • Memorable moments (good and bad)

Examples

Good Character Structure

characters/
├── index.md
└── keepers/ # League folder
    ├── bitch-my-bad.md # Character progress tracker
    └── zoom-zoom-raider.md # Another character

Good Progress Tracker

Characteristics:

  • ✅ Updated regularly (after each session or major milestone)
  • ✅ Clear current status and next steps
  • ✅ Tracks gear upgrades with dates and costs
  • ✅ Documents learnings and mistakes
  • ✅ Personal voice and observations

Tips for Effective Tracking

Update Frequency

Recommended:

  • After each play session (quick update)
  • After major milestones (detailed notes)
  • After significant gear upgrades
  • When you learn something important

At Minimum:

  • Once per act (campaign)
  • Once per map tier transition
  • After major purchases
  • After boss kills

What to Track

Essential:

  • Current location/progress
  • Next immediate goals
  • Current gear (major pieces)
  • Current wealth

Nice to Have:

  • Detailed gear progression log
  • Currency tracking
  • Death log (lessons learned)
  • Build evolution notes
  • Personal reflections

What Makes a Great Tracker

  1. Clear "Where am I now?" - Anyone (including future you) can quickly understand your current state
  2. Actionable next steps - You know exactly what to do when you log in
  3. Progress visibility - You can see how far you've come
  4. Lessons captured - You document what works and what doesn't
  5. Goal tracking - You have clear objectives and track progress

Retiring Characters

When a character is done (league ended, rerolled, etc.):

  1. Update status to retired or rerolled
  2. Add final reflection in "Personal Reflection" section
  3. Option A: Keep in league folder (recommended for league history)
  4. Option B: Move to characters/standard/[character-name].md (for permanent league)

League End Process:

  • When a league ends, all characters migrate to Standard
  • You can either:
    • Keep the league folder intact as historical record
    • Move active characters to characters/standard/
    • Archive the entire league folder

Difference: Characters vs Builds

Characters FolderBuilds Folder
Personal progress trackingReference build guides
Work in progressCompleted/polished
Updated frequentlyUpdated when patches change
YOUR journeyCommunity resource
Flexible structureStrict template structure
"Where am I?""How do I build this?"

Example:

  • characters/keepers/bitch-my-bad.md - YOUR Act 6 Necromancer journey in Keepers league
  • builds/witch/spectre-necromancer.md - Polished Spectre Necro build guide

Relationships

Character trackers can reference build guides:

yaml
relationships:
  reference_builds:
    - path: "builds/witch/spectre-necromancer.md"
      title: "Spectre Necromancer Build Guide"
      reason: "Following this guide"

  reference_guides:
    - path: "research/strategy/best-spectres-corpses-3-27.md"
      title: "Best Spectres Guide"
      reason: "Spectre selection reference"

Additional Resources

  • Template: templates/character-progress-template.md
  • Build Guides: builds/ folder
  • Strategy Guides: research/strategy/ folder
  • Validation: Use /validate skill to check compliance

Questions?

Q: How is this different from builds folder? A: builds/ = reference guides. characters/ = YOUR personal journey tracking.

Q: Do I need to follow the template exactly? A: Use the template as a starting point, but feel free to add/remove sections that help YOU track progress.

Q: Should I track every character? A: Track the characters you're actively playing. Don't worry about one-off tests or quick rerolls.

Q: Can I have multiple characters in one league? A: Yes! Each gets its own file within the league: characters/keepers/char1.md, characters/keepers/char2.md, etc.

Q: What if I respec my character? A: Update status to rerolled, document the change in your progress tracker, and continue tracking.

Happy tracking! This is YOUR journey - make it count!
